MacBook Pro 14-inch (M4 Pro, 2024)

Can the RAM be upgraded in the MacBook Pro 14-inch (M4 Pro, 2024)?

No. The RAM is unified memory integrated into the M4 Pro system-on-chip and is soldered to the logic board. It cannot be upgraded after purchase.

What is the maximum RAM available for this model?

The MacBook Pro 14-inch with M4 Pro supports up to 24GB of unified memory when configured at the time of order. This is the maximum and cannot be expanded later.

Can the internal SSD be upgraded or replaced?

No. The SSD storage is soldered to the logic board and is not user-upgradeable or replaceable. Storage capacity must be chosen at the time of purchase.

Is the battery replaceable?

Yes, the battery is replaceable, but it is glued into the chassis and requires specialized tools and adhesive for removal and installation. Apple and authorized service providers can perform the replacement.

What other components can be upgraded in this MacBook Pro?

No other internal components are user-upgradeable. The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module, speakers, and cooling fans are soldered or proprietary. The only user-serviceable part is the battery, which requires professional service.

What storage interface does the internal SSD use?

The internal SSD uses a proprietary Apple controller integrated into the M4 Pro chip, connected via a high-speed NVMe interface. It is not a standard M.2 or removable module.

Can the thermal paste or cooling system be upgraded?

No. The thermal system is factory-sealed and not designed for user modification. The M4 Pro chip uses a shared heat sink and thermal paste applied during manufacturing; attempting to change it can damage the logic board.
