I have a late 2009 imac. The ram specs are 1066 mhz. I ordered a 1033 mhz module and was wondering if I could still use it.

    Can I use a DDR3 ram memory on a imac 24″ bought in 2007?

    1. No, depending on your specific 2006 iMac, you’ll need to buy DDR2 PC5300 sodimms. It’s easy to find the right memory for your iMac:

      1. Select a memory store you like.
      2. Use the memory configurator where you can find the exact memory upgrade for your 2006 iMac model.
      3. Order the memory, and instructions on Apple memory upgrades are available from Apple.com where it’s easy to upgrade RAM on your iMac yourself.

I just purchased an imac 2.5 GHz intel core i5 and possess a Kingston 8GB Kit of 1066MHz DDR3 SODIMM. Is this set of modules compatible to my new iMac? In other words, can my new iMac support these chips, when the DDR3-1333MHz RAM is recommended?
